Showcase Showdown

No, no. Nothing to do with Bruce Forsyth fortunately!

DMS participated in our first Hire a Band Wedding Showcase along with three other bands at the end of August. It was held at the Alea Casino in Glasgow. It’s a really great venue for this type of event and with the help of our good friend Gordon Ferguson on sound, we had a great evening. Below are some pictures and some more information.

Each band played about 4 songs, so a set of 15-20 minutes in duration. DMS performed the following:

  1. Jessie J – Domino/Black Eyed Peas – I Gotta Feeling (Medley)
  2. Stevie Wonder – Signed, Sealed, Delivered
  3. Lionel Richie – Dancing On The Ceiling
  4. Emeli Sandé – Next To Me

Recently, DMS also had the honour of performing at the Hilton Glasgow for the CLIC Sargent children’s cancer charity. For this gig, Rachel Lightbody was on vocal duties as Madaleine was performing abroad. It was a successful night and there was a great crowd, with the only downside being a pint of Tennent’s Lager costing me £4.50. As the evening had a Great Gatsby theme, our first set consisted of some swing music, while we brought out all the pop hits for the second half. Here’s a picture from just after our set:

Finally I have recently been doing a little shadowing at my former college, North Glasgow College alongside Allan Bertram and Campbell Owens. I have had a great time so far and will go into more detail in my next blog entry!
