Connected is a quartet performing original music written by Glasgow-based jazz drummer Chris Whitehouse. The music focuses on elements of rock and jazz and combines them both. Taking influence from Tool, The Mars Volta, Three Trapped Tigers, Chris Potter and Wayne Krantz, the band is dynamic, rhythmic, and a throw back to Chris’ love of various forms of music. The lineup is:
- Jonathan Edwards (Tenor Saxophone)
- Stephen Maxwell (Electric Guitar)
- Euan Taylor (Electric Bass)
- Chris Whitehouse (Drums/Composition)
At the end of March 2014, we had our first gig at the monthly Stretched night. The gig went pretty well and we played for around 45 minutes. It was a good way for us to prepare to get into the studio to record the album on April 16th 2014.
Gus Stirrat, a musician from Glasgow and student on the Edinburgh Napier University Masters course in Sound Production recorded us at the Masters studio on campus. The facilities are brand new and of a very high standard. We spent around 8 hours recording 8 of Chris’ compositions for the album. I wrote a little about the recording session in a recent blog post. Hopefully, more news on the album will be coming soon.
